Dia is surely the best option you can choose if you need to prepare diagrams, data tables, schematics and graphic designs of this type. It's a completely free application, open source, and comes from the Linux system.

Perhaps its main feature is the use of layers at the design stage, just as you do with some classic graphics editing programs. This simplifies the design process and allows you to modularize your work: if you need to correct or change anything, just go to the corresponding layer, and not have to always work with the entire chart.

Dia includes all types of graphic elements to use in your diagrams, such as arrows, ellipses, polygons of all kinds and shapes, and so on. Very interesting is also the option to 'fix' an element of your design, so that if you move it automatically moves with it all the arrows and lines that connect it to the rest.
